EUROCLIMA+ Pavilion in the Blue Zone

Climate Change Conference (COP25)

The 2019 UN climate change conference (COP25) will be held December 2-13 in Santiago, Chile. EUROCLIMA+, as a regional development cooperation programme of the European Union (EU), will participate in the event and offer a space in its pavilion (located near the EU pavilion) for "side events", to be organised by key actors from Latin America and the European Union.

The objective of the Programme is to promote sustainable and climate-resilient development in Latin America, with particular emphasis on vulnerable populations. In this context, EUROCLIMA+ aims to support the 18 Latin American countries in the implementation of their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC).

Side Events open in the EUROCLIMA+ Pavilion

The EUROCLIMA+ pavilion will be a bridge for the exchange of knowledge and experiences connecting the European Union and Latin America in the field of climate change, with the aim of increasing ambition in the commitments agreed upon in the framework of the Paris Agreement.

Stakeholders from Latin America and the European Union are invited to apply for a space in the Programme’s pavilion during the two weeks of COP25. Proposals are expected from: national and local public institutions, other projects of the EU or its Member States, EU Delegations, civil society organisations, academia, the financial sector and the private sector.

In this context, the side events will be oriented, on aspects of adaptation and mitigation in:

  1. processes for designing and implementing climate policies
  2. specific sectoral issues
  3. actors potentially involved in the formulation and implementation of climate policies.
