Gender and vulnerable groups

Strengthening the integration of the gender perspective and participation of vulnerable groups, indigenous peoples and local communities in policies, action plans and other measures related to NDCs.

Issues

Given its importance and relevance to the regional agenda, the programme is supporting Latin American countries in incorporating the gender perspective into their national climate policies, action plans and other policy instruments related to NDC implementation.

Challenges in the region include the development of gender analyses; the collection and use of information broken down by gender and the establishment of gender-sensitive indicators. It is important to support the strengthening of institutional capacities on the issue and to develop practical tools to increase the gender focus and the participation and consultation of women and women's groups.

The CGC will promote the inclusion of vulnerable groups (with a special focus on indigenous peoples) in the process of climate policy design, consultation and implementation, particularly those related to NDC implementation.
