24 proposals selected for the second phase

The French Development Agency (AFD), as the leader of the sector, together with the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), are the agencies delegated by the European Commission for the administration of the Water Management sector under a perspective of urban resilience. In this framework, on June 15, 2018, the call for the presentation of preformulated projects with expressions was published, the term of which ended on September 10, 2018.

The committees in charge of assessing and prequalifying the project proposals received a total of 129 requests for “no objection” from institutions interested in participating in the call for projects. After the assessment and prequalification process of these requests (made by the evaluation committees formed in each country for this purpose), a total of 46 project proposals were considered “eligible”, and therefore they were passed on to be evaluated by the implementing agencies.

After a detailed evaluation process, on January 15, 2019, 24 proposals were selected for the second phase of selection. The leading institutions of the pre-selected pre-formulation sheets will be invited to prepare a complete project formulation document.

It should be mentioned that the pre-selected projects in the framework of the Water Management call are local in nature. Most of these are water management projects at the level of river basins supplying water to cities.

It is important to note that 14 of the 18 countries participating in the EUROCLIMA+ programme are represented in the selection of the pre-formulation sheets that will go to the full project formulation phase.
