Objective
To highlight the vision of local governments in Latin America, highlighting the commitments and proposals for climate action put forth by the authorities and local governments networks in the region, projecting the challenges and priorities for the implementation of the Paris Agreement in Latin America during 2020 and beyond.
Presentation
The proposals of the Regional Agenda of Sub-National Governments of Latin America, developed with inputs from a series of events held throughout 2019, including the FLACMA Congress in Santiago de Chile, Latin American Climate Change Week in Salvador de Bahia, the Steering Committee meeting of the Covenant of Mayors in Cartagena, and the Pre-COP25 developed in Costa Rica, will be announced. A dialogue will be generated among the participants on contingent issues in the region in the context of the main challenges, commitments and priorities of local governments in Latin America: financing for local action, ambition and local commitments, NDC implementation at the local level, and capacity building for local climate management, among other issues.
