Objective

To discuss among high-level authorities the impacts of climate change in LAC, the challenges the region faces in completing the NDCs, and the importance of green fiscal policy in advancing towards the decarbonisation of economies.

Presentation

Climate change in Latin America and the Caribbean represents an economic, social, distributive and innovation challenge, but also a great opportunity for the region to move towards more sustainable and inclusive development. The event will launch the book Economics of Climate Change in Latin America and the Caribbean, which addresses the impacts of climate change in LAC, and we will discuss the challenges the region is facing in NDC implementation. There will be senior level panellists who are expected to reflect on different areas: environmental, planning, economic and public finance. This side event aims to share experiences on the challenges that climate change represents for fiscal policy.
