Objective

Share with the participants three examples of initiatives supported by EUROCLIMA+ that aim to strengthen their intersectoral cooperation in order to take advantage of synergies between risk management, natural resources and climate-resilient food production in the region.

Presentation

The EUROCLIMA+ programme supports capacity building in Latin American countries at the interface of natural resource management, climate disaster risk reduction and resilient food production to foster countries' response to their NDCs with the Paris agreement. The recent IPCC Special Report (2019) Climate Change and Land (https://www.ipcc.ch/site/assets/uploads/2019/08/2019-PRESS-IPCC-50th-IPCC-Session_es.pdf ) highlights the importance of an integrated land management approach for climate change. In this sense, the actions of the EUROCLIMA+ programme are expected to generate important synergies. The presenters will share ongoing initiatives that are developing experiences and generating synergies around the nexus between climate disaster risk management, natural resources and food production for climate change-resilient communities. A facilitated panel discussion will summarise the lessons learned and recommendations.
