Objective 

The objective of the session is to draw attention to the climate emergency in the Central American Dry Corridor and to present nature-based solutions to increase the region's resilience to climate change.

Presentation

  • Presentation on the climatic vulnerability of Central America and its impacts, which have important economic and social consequences. The region has an opportunity for leadership in the use of nature-based solutions. 
  • Importance of Ecosystem Restoration Initiatives: Green Development Fund Project and Dry Corridor Project. Both represent alliances with specific actions for the challenge of financing nature-based solutions.  
  • A panel of experts will discuss the importance of ecosystem restoration, the region's commitments, the need to increase the flow of climate financing to the region, and the value of the Central American regional perspective in scaling up the use of nature-based solutions. 
  • The event shows the possibility of transforming vulnerability into an opportunity for ecosystem restoration, the promotion of integration and regional economic revitalisation.
