Objective

To present strategies to strengthen the links between human mobility and climate change and to make climate migration visible in Latin America, opening a space for connection between non-state actors and the dissemination of different initiatives for a better understanding of this phenomenon.

Presentation

With this side event, the South American Network for Environmental Migration - RESAMA and the Latin American Observatory on Human Mobility, Climate Change and Disasters - MOVE-LAM, commit to bringing together relevant non-state actors (academia, NGOs, private sector and independent civil society initiatives) that have been developing and examining data/information/research, as well as projects and practices related to human mobility in the context of climate change, promoting a debate on how these initiatives could address this phenomenon in regional and national climate agendas. The event will feature a Special guest who will provide the European Union's perspective on the subject.A roundtable will be guided by a general question presented at the beginning of the event by the facilitator. Each speaker will be invited to submit a response based on their experience, commitment and contributions to the topic before an open discussion with the public.  At the end of the event there will be a reflection on the strategies and suggestions shared between the panellists and the audience.
