El Salvador
Between 9 and 13 February, several user workshops will be held within the framework of the “Generation of Regionalized Climate Change Scenarios for Central America” action, which accompanies the Central American region in strengthening its meteorological services and in the generation of climatic scenarios with an adequate resolution for the planning of adaptation measures, prepared following a common methodology.
In each country, two types of workshops will be held:
- Users workshops: aimed at representatives of institutions likely to use the scenarios (priority sectors for adaptation to climate change in the country). The objectives of these workshops are: a) To present the results of the “Generation of Regionalized Climate Change Scenarios for Central America” project to the users of national climate change scenarios; b) Familiarize users in the use of the viewer; c) Explain the process to include user input in the viewer.
- Training workshops: aimed primarily at technicians from Ministries of Environment with responsibility for issues related to climate change, particularly in the management of the generation of regionalized climate change scenarios for use in issues of impact and adaptation. In the workshop, concepts and methodologies related to climate change scenarios are reviewed. Likewise, examples of limitations in its use, good practices and application in two sectors that are very affected by climate change are shown.
