Presentation of Thematic Study 14, from the collection of EUROCLIMA Thematic Studies, and analysis of the state and progress in matters of ACE in the region.
This new study presents the state of the art in the design and implementation of climate plans and policies aimed at complying with Article 12 of the Paris Agreement, in eight countries of the region: Chile, Uruguay, Ecuador, Peru, Costa Rica , Cuba and the Dominican Republic. It also includes experiences developed by different international organizations in these countries.
The Action for Climate Empowerment -ACE- is the agreed name for article 6 of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, reflected in this article 12 of the Paris Agreement, and that contemplates six interdependent dimensions and interrelated: education, training, public awareness, public participation, public access to information and international cooperation.
This work allows obtaining a detailed vision of the actions that are being developed in some countries of the region, for each of the six ACE dimensions, and wants to serve as a starting point for a joint development of public policies that guarantee the incorporation of the ACE in their national NDCs.
