Session 1: Homologation processes for electric vehicles
Objective: In order for a vehicle to be launched onto the market, it must pass a series of tests to certify that a model meets all safety, environmental and production conformity requirements before authorizing its commercialization, this procedure is known as “homologation " In the case of electric vehicles, the approval is different, since normally the driving cycles and other tests are aimed at internal combustion vehicles. In the case of electric vehicles, the tests are associated with the safety and energy efficiency of the vehicle. How is it performed? What are the referential international regulations? How can a country that does not have a certification laboratory ensure that safe and efficient vehicles are introduced? We will be discussing these questions in this session through the experience gained in Chile, a Latin American country that, although it has a certification laboratory, has had to adapt its procedures to the margin of the world to introduce electric vehicles.
